The House on the Borderland

<p><em>The House on the Borderland</em> (1908) follows an unnamed narrator who along with his friend Tonnison discovers a mysterious ruined house in rural Ireland and a manuscript written by its former occupant known only as the Recluse.</p><p>The manuscript describes the Recluse's terrifying otherworldly experiences inside the house which seems to sit on the boundary between reality and cosmic realms. He witnesses visions of vast alien landscapes; battles swine-like humanoid creatures; and experiences a nightmarish journey through cosmic time watching the death of the Earth and the universe.</p><p>The story blends supernatural horror with early cosmic science fiction presenting the house as a nexus between worlds and the Recluse as an accidental explorer of infinite unsettling realities.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p>
