The idea of Deep Ecology was proposed and developed by the Norwegian ecophilosopher Arne Naess in 1972-1991. The main work of Naess which brought him international fame ―Ecology community and life-style‖ was published in 1989. His ecosophy T is most accurately characterized by the following thesis: the satisfaction derived from the things that lead to the destruction of nature is a passive i.e. possession of material values which are harmful for the environment can not be considered as happiness.
