About The Book

Character and special education are heavily debated topics in the USA. Both play a critical role in education and its services are expected to shape today's youth. Special education covers a wide array of disabilities. This book focused on students at-risk with emotional and behavioral disorders; they are the highest group of individuals incarcerated. The study was conducted to determine if character education programs are positively impacting the well-being of students at-risk with emotional and behavioral disorders in Los Angeles County special education high schools and to determine whether the character education programs made a difference in their lives. Additionally the study was conducted to identify specific components of the schools' character education program that was effective and components that needed improvements. Lastly the study was conducted to determine how the schools' character education program affected students across behavioral changes (school home community) according to people who work directly with these students. The conclusion highlighted more than what the study was conducting which can bring the platform of character education to a higher level.
