The Impact of International Aid on Sierra Leone's Economic Development

''Through hard work and education we can deliver a strong economy and opportunity for all'' Julia Gillard Aid dependency is a hindrance to a country''s sustainable development and economic growth. In spite of its benefits in terms of strengthening local capacity the cost of aid dependency in Sierra Leone has been very high. It has weakened national ownership and accountability has led to revenue instability corruption and high inflationary problems. Blessed with natural resources Sierra Leone should start looking inwardly for solutions. This shift will contribute towards transforming the economy from a low income country to a middle income country.
