The Implementation of Early Childcare Education and Its Challenges

The research was designed to investigate assessment of the implementation of early child care and education; in Mekelle city. It was tried to assess the gap for implementation. Three types of questionnaires were administered to collect from teachers principals and parents. Direct observation check lists were used to see the actual implementation. The data were gathered from parents teachers and principals. Findings from the data analysis indicated that the following are the cause for the poor implementation of early childhood program; it was left for private nongovernmental organisation and other religious organisation for a long period of time. therefore believed that since early child care and education is a base for preparation of children to primary education and their development all stake holders must form a bond to fulfil facilities materials and expansion of early child care centres The government must also encourage investment in early grade education to increase coverage of service. Financing early grade education in public primary schools supports to low socioeconomic families. It is crucial to achieve quality and relevance of early grade education.
