The principal aim of this book is to throw light on the basic laws governing the origin and the development of capitalist enterprises in the national industry of India. The author had neither the intention nor the means to paint a complete picture covering all aspects of industrial development in India during modern times. The reader will undoubtedly notice the lack of statistical data regarding a number of important phenomena as also the fact that a purely economic analysis has not been attempted of the Indian bourgeoisie up to the general crisis of capitalism is the problem which has attracted the special attention of the author and has been examined by him in greater detail.
