The Influence of Personality Traits on the Risk of Consumption

About The Book

The objective of this research is to study personality traits and the risk of consumption of psychotropic substances in students of the Psychological Sciences program at the Universidad Tecnológica Indoamérica in order to determine the influence between the two variables. The validated instruments applied were the 16PF5 for personality traits and the ASSIST V3.0 for risk of consumption of psychotropic substances. The results show that 34% of the population present high scores in hardness and low scores in extraversions. Regarding the risk of consumption of psychotropic substances 59% of the students are at a moderate level of risk in terms of alcohol consumption and 67% in relation to tobacco consumption. Once the data were analyzed using Chi-square it was concluded that personality traits do not influence the risk of consumption of psychotropic substances. Based on the results obtained workshops are designed to reduce the consumption of psychotropic substances and thus improve the quality of life.
