<p class=ql-align-justify>In 1991 my friend Michael Nye traveled to Northern Iraq to be a witness to the suffering of the Kurdish people who had become refugees in their own land.&nbsp;It was a time of war.&nbsp;The Kurds after decades of harsh rule by the Iraqi government had rebelled and were demanding self rule and independence.&nbsp;Iraqi soldiers in village after village were rounding up civilians and executing them.&nbsp;More than 400000 Kurds fled their homes.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>
