The Lady of Shalott

About The Book

Alfred Tennyson an English author wrote the lyrical ballad The Lady of Shalott in the nineteenth century. It is based on the 13th-century short prose work La Damigella di Scalot which recounts the tragic tale of Elaine of Astolat a young nobility marooned in a tower above Camelot. With its lucid mediaeval romanticism and enigmatic symbolism it is one of Tennyson's most well-known and memorable compositions.
