The Last Landing

Amelia Earhart thought about what she would tell her rescuers when they finally reached her. Fred collapsed in his seat as we approached the beach. He had a heart attack as we dropped to 500 feet. There was nothing I could do but take the Electra on down with empty tanks. She could feel the warm blood running down her cheek as blackness framed her vision. She turned to her friend and navigator just before she lost consciousness;I'm so sorry Fred this is not how it was supposed to end.
