Because Genko Ganev's parents chose not to join the Communist Party in Bulgaria they were prohibited from the smallest hope of advancement for themselves or their only son. In fact they etched in his brain the suggestion that he flee Bulgaria even though they might never see him again if he succeeded.and decidedly would not if he failed.</p>With determination intelligence and courage and with his adopted Christian faith to guide him Genko defied the Communist law against leaving the country.
