Once Adam has completed his training to become a knight (or Nasi as such things are called on the planet Gannah) he will be heir to the throne. Or that's what he thinks until  he stumbles upon a village of Old Gannahan survivors. Hard to believe because they were thought to have all died in the plague decades earlier.
