Five years prior, female executives only made up 4.3% of the Fortune 500 CEO.</u><span style="color: rgba(15, 17, 17, 1)">&nbsp;The number is even strikingly lower for minority women. Even though statistics show that more women are obtaining higher degrees than men, with colleges and universities in the U.S. now enrolling roughly six women for every four men,&nbsp;</span><u style="color: rgba(15, 17, 17, 1)">women only earn 82 cents for every $1 men earn</u><span style="color: rgba(15, 17, 17, 1)">. Moreover, when it comes to salary negotiation, research shows that both men and women will judge a woman less favorably who asks for a higher starting salary than a man with the same credentials asking for the same salary.</span></p><p><br></p><p>And if you are thinking of starting a family,<u style="color: rgba(15, 17, 17, 1)">&nbsp;research shows that mothers were significantly less likely to be recommended for employment, and when they were, they were offered $11,000 less in starting compensation, on average, than childless women, while men are not penalized for having a family.</u></p><p><br></p><p><span style="color: rgba(15, 17, 17, 1)">This may sound discouraging and depressing that there are unspoken rules women must navigate to be successful in the workplace.</span></p><p><br></p><p><span style="color: rgba(15, 17, 17, 1)">If you are tired of being passed up for promotions and turned away from high leadership positions, you are not alone.
