The Lebanese Forces and the Taef Accord

Seventeen years after the Taef Summit which was heldin Saudi Arabia in October 1989 the reconciliationagreement remains a debatable issue among theLebanese people basically among the major Lebanesepolitical parties. Some have opposed this agreementand others particularly the Lebanese Forces havesupported and promoted it on both the national andthe sectarian levels. For instance such agreements are not intended tobe an end by themselves rather than means which leadthe Lebanese people to coexist peacefully and build astrong system.Based on the overall study and analysis the researchis concluded by confirming the validity and thepositive aspects of the Taef Accord which remains animportant reference and reliance for the Lebanesepeople to solve their political disagreements.
