The legal aspects of the energy transition

Since 2010 there has been an increase in efforts by African states to promote energy efficiency and the transition to renewable energy. However it is clear that much remains to be done. These include mobilizing the necessary funding to support innovative and bankable projects setting up tariff incentive mechanisms and guarantees of good governance and transparency in the energy sector and finally improving the policy and regulatory frameworks. This last shortcoming is by far one of the most important. This contribution rightly proposes to : -Provide readers with the tools to understand and master the changes underway towards renewable energy; -To help readers make the link between the energy transition the role of energy in the economy the financing of the transition and sustainable development; -To provide readers with elements for understanding the contribution of legal and regulatory standards to the energy transition.
