My Mother Came To Me With A Gold Mine That She Had Written Over The Years Of Stories About Her Grandmother. These Were Her Personal Memories As She Was Always A Voracious Note Taker And Responsible Record Keeper. I Too Love To Write And Take Notes. Coupled With My Love For Black History And Genealogy A Divine Time Was Made For Our Passions To Meet.My Mother Having Done All The Hard Work Allowed Me To Sprinkle Some Black History Into Her Writings And Together We Came Up With What You Have In Your Hands. My Grandmother Was A Religious Woman And Loved Hymns Spirituals And Gospel Music So We Decided To Title Each Chapter After A Religious Song. My Grandfather Is An Important Part Of Our Family And Indeed Is Mentioned; However The Story Is Of Our Matriarch Who Lived Thirty-Two Years After His Passing. This Is Our Family History And I Am Proud To Have Been A Part Of This Journey With My Mother Seeing My Grandmother Through Her Eyes.
