The Life of Tamar Queen of Georgia

<p>This medieval Georgian text recounts the life of King Giorgi and his daughter Tamar who ascended the throne after his death. Giorgi known for his benevolence and support of the church was deeply saddened by his lack of children until Tamar was born. Following Giorgi's death Tamar was celebrated for her beauty and virtue and the nobles quickly supported her ascension to the throne. As queen Tamar demonstrated wisdom and a commitment to faith initiating reforms to strengthen Orthodoxy in her kingdom. Her reign is marked by her ability to discern loyalty and deceit and she sought to eradicate evil influences within her realm. </p>
