THE LIVED EXPERIENCES AND READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS OF THE GRADE FIVE PUPILS

This study tested and compared the effectiveness of reading interventions to improve the reading comprehension of the pupils. Also the lived experiences of the pupils in their reading comprehension skills are described. A comparative descriptive research design was employed in the study there were 62 Grade Five pupils who undergone the assessment session using questionnaire and 6 pupil participants who got the lowest score in the assessment and undergone an interview session. These pupils were verified as official enrollees at Tokawal Elementary School for the school year 2017-2018. Two reading materials and parallel comprehension tests as tools in conducting the study were used. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the test for dependent samples. For the qualitative data gathering guide questions were used comprising with open ended questions.
