Co-authors Kaitlyn E. Brock and Robin L. Cooper Ph.D. have been researching lobster nerves at the University of Kentucky with the intent to share their protocols at low cost to other educators and students worldwide.Similar to the sciatic nerve lobster nerves are useful tools for teaching conduction velocity examining pharmacological actions addressing recruitment of neurons obtaining compound action potentials and covering the principles of refractory periods. This book shows how to obtain lobster nerve preparations and to record synaptic transmission at neuromuscular junctions and measure sensory proprioception-all within a single animal.
