About The Book

<p>The story is based on a mother's devotion to the Catholic religion. My mother grew up in North Philadelphia in a section called Swampoodle and belonged to Saint Columbus Parish where she attended grade school. The Parish was consolidated with many other churches in the Philadelphia area and Saint Martin de Porres Parish was established on July 1 1993. </p><p><br></p><p>My mother Charlotte McElwee has one one brother and fours sisters one of whom was named Dorothy McElwee. She joined the Poor Clares of the Franciscan Monastery on December 8 1950 and changed her name to Sister Mary Immaculate. My mother got married on June 29 1957 and had seven daughters 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Charlotte raised her children with her husband John Devers in the town of Roslyn Pennsylvania. When Charlotte and John retired they moved to Brigantine New Jersey.</p>
