The Master and Margarita

The Master and Margarita is the literary masterpiece that surpasses all others. The Devil emerges from the shadows one spring afternoon and makes his way into Moscow leaving a trail of fire and chaos in his wake. Two separate yet interconnected parts of Mikhail Bulgakov's imaginative humorous and scathing satire of Soviet life are combined one is situated in modern Moscow while the other is in ancient Jerusalem. Both are packed with real imagined mythical and amazing characters. The Master and Margarita which was first published in 1966 and 1967 but was actually written during the worst of Stalin's rule became a literary sensation and stood for the independence of the arts and the soul for all Russians.
