Poetry is art. Like a painting or a sculpture you either love it or you hate it. It either moves you or it doesn't. You either understand what the poet is saying or you don't. It's as simple as that. And like art poetry is subjective. You can either look at a Jackson Pollock painting and it moves you in some way or it looks like he splattered paint on a canvas.
