THE MEANING OF LIFE IN DEPRESSED ELDERLY PEOPLE

The volume presents the implementation of a psycho-educational intervention aimed at modifying the meaning of life of depressed elderly people attending a mental health consultation in Baracoa municipality Guantanamo province Cuba. The model rigorous bibliographic triangulation integrator of previous experiences and contributor of reflexive-creative techniques was proposed to improve the structuring of the meaning of life characterizing in addition the behavior of depression the motivational sphere and its conflicts as well as the needs and their hierarchy. Its application to the sample of elderly with incidence in self-image self-esteem motivational perspective vital projects attitude towards conflicts and communicative-relational competences strengthened the sense of life decreased the depressive levels increased the motivational spectrum of the elderly with predominance of the needs for esteem self-realization and security and reduced the motivational conflicts. The professional practice acquires a powerful clinical tool. Its generalization is recommended.
