About The Book

In our study on the microbial ecology of the city of Lubumbashi the mean values of temperature pH and dissolved oxygen obtained during the dry season were 21.75°C 7.58 and 7.45 mg/dl respectively. During the rainy season these mean values were 25.58°C 7.29 and 5.92 mg/dl respectively. For the microbiological analysis Aeromonas Hydrophila and total coliforms were identified in all the rivers of the city of Lubumbashi during the dry and rainy seasons. Of course there are particularities in some rivers where we identified different bacteria such as Klebseilla planticola Escherichia coli Enterococcus faecalis. This diversity of microorganisms is due to the seasonal changes where aerobic surface water (which receives many wastes) and anaerobic deep water permute due to differences in temperature and specific gravity. The bacteria that cause waterborne diseases in the city of Lubumbashi grow at a neutral pH.
