This book is the first italian translation of the Risalat al-anwar fima yumnah al-khalwa min al-asrar ("Treatise on the Lights in the Secrets Entrusted to the One Who Takes on the Retreat") by Muhyî-d-Dîn Ibn 'Arabî (Murcia 1165 - Damascus 1240) originally composed in 1204/1205 in Konia Turkey and preserved there. This treatise which contains divine mysteries is an illuminating guide for travelers and seekers of truth and vision. Those who wish to become intimate with God and who wander in the garden in search of the rosebuds of inner knowledge should read this book and learn to "be". Since the author of this work is Ibn 'Arabi whoever leafs through the pages of this book will find himself conversing directly with him. In it Ibn 'Arabi describes mystical ascension in terms of a constant progression through the levels of existence and knowledge up to the maximum degree of human perfection framing it as a mystical journey towards the Lord of Power (rabb al-'izza) which is beyond all qualifications and therefore a return to the world of creatures endowed with the knowledge of their true reality.
