The Nature Faker

One day Herrick meets a real woodsman named Jim Harkness. Harkness is disgusted by Herrick's dishonesty and he challenges him to spend a week in the wilderness with him. Herrick accepts the challenge and he soon learns that the wilderness is not as romantic as he had imagined.Herrick and Harkness spend several days camping in the woods. They encounter bears wolves and other dangerous animals. Herrick also experiences the harsh realities of life in the wilderness such as hunger thirst and fatigue.By the end of the week Herrick has learned a valuable lesson. He realizes that the wilderness is a real and dangerous place and that it cannot be faked. He also realizes that he needs to be more honest in his writing.The Nature Faker is a satirical story that criticizes the fakeness of some nature writing. It is also a cautionary tale about the dangers of hubris.
