The Nibelungenlied

<p><strong>The <em>Nibelungenlied</em></strong> is a medieval German epic about heroism betrayal and revenge. It follows <strong>Siegfried</strong> a legendary hero who is murdered through treachery and his wife <strong>Kriemhild</strong> whose grief turns into a relentless quest for vengeance. Years later she marries <strong>King Etzel</strong> (Attila the Hun) and lures her brothers and their warriors into a deadly trap. The story ends in massive tragedy with nearly all major characters killed emphasizing the destructive power of pride and revenge.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p>
