This study examines the expression of subjectivity in Albertina Bertha's fiction specifically in her lyrical novel and philosophical digressions Exaltação published in 1916. In this way we are interested in the subjective processes and narrative techniques for presenting consciousness as well as the author's affiliation with the introspective novel in Brazil situating her within Brazilian literature through this modality. We intend to place her in a lineage in correlation with other novels of introspection verifying how these works echoed the ruptures with Realism in Brazil the dialogue between Brazilian writers and the aesthetics of the late 19th century especially Symbolism what the meaning of space is in the narratives and its relationship with subjective processes and which language procedures will be taken up by other Brazilian writers in narratives exploring subjectivity. In addition this work aims to contribute to the development of a history - as yet non-existent - of the novel of introspection in Brazil.
