The Novel Researcher

<p><em>The Novel Researcher: What You Need to Know Before Doing Research</em> is a succinct and accessible textbook that helps students who are new to research understand the research process and the practices that are critical to successfully conducting research. <br /><br />The book begins with chapters that introduce the concepts of research science the search for truth and the research cycle. In subsequent chapters students learn how to frame hypotheses design experiments and recognize and analyze various types of scientific literature. The text also addresses ethical behavior in a research setting how to successfully document research how to design presentations that effectively communicate research findings and how to work successfully in a group setting. Each chapter features a content summary and exercises that encourage students to apply learned concepts. <br /><br />Multidisciplinary in nature <em>The Novel Researcher</em> is an ideal resource for any undergraduate course focuses on developing skills in research critical thinking or reading writing and presenting academic and scientific information.</p><p><strong>Adelina Holguin</strong> earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from the Psychology Department and The Center of Neuroscience at the University of Colorado Boulder and her B.S. in psychology with a minor in biology from the University of Texas El Paso. Her professional research experience led Dr. Holguin to Zambia Africa in the capacity of senior research associate to build infrastructure for a NeuroAIDS project where she oversaw the direction of the project and conducted both NeuroAIDS behavioral and histopathological studies. While in Zambia Dr. Holguin also established an immunohistochemistry laboratory at the University Teaching Hospital. Dr. Holguin is an assistant professor in the Social Sciences Department at Doña Ana Community College in Las Cruces New Mexico.</p>
