About The Book

A historical-fiction account of the life of David Dubhda (ODowda) the King of Ireland. Dubhda meansThe Dark One. It refers to the black hair or dark complexion of the first man to bear the name. The line and the name have remained intact from generation to generation until the sixteenth century when the gaelic spelling was anglicised to the more familiar ODowda. As time passed the name ODubhda metamorphosed to become the more familiar ODowda. We know a great deal of the ODowda family history. They emerged from the mists of antiquity some 1500 years ago and were descended from a people in the west of Ireland known as the Ui Fiachrach.
