There is much idle chatter in the seaside village of Pentrillick for word has broken that Joseph Percival Williams the village's erstwhile baker and oldest inhabitant is dead. When sexagenarian twin sisters Lottie and Hetty hear the news Lottie's first though is that should it be sold the Old Bakehouse might be a suitable home for her son Bill and his family currently living up-country.
