The Old Man and The Sea

It tells the story of an aging fisherman Santiago who has gone 84 days without catching a fish. On the 85th day he sets out to sea and catches a giant marlin but his struggle to bring the fish back to shore becomes a grueling battle against the elements and against sharks who attack the marlin. The novella is set in Cuba and explores themes such as perseverance strength and the relationship between humans and nature. It is a meditation on the human condition and the struggle to maintain ones dignity in the face of defeat and adversity.
