About The Book

Life resembles theater theater mirrors life-a small troupe embodying the myriad flavors of human existence.

Outside the Peking Opera Theater lies a garden of oleanders. Their red and white hues mirror each other in stunning captivating beauty yet their sap is lethally toxic.

As common ornamental plants they are familiar to many yet few recognize their beautiful yet poisonous nature. Only the theater's director grasped its profound symbolism.

During a seemingly impromptu gathering he led the troupe through the floral sea. Taking oleanders as a metaphor he expounded on two-aspect theory: intoxicating fragrance may camouflage superficial vulgarity while plain appearances might conceal inner turbulence...

Thus the theater further refined this garden into a renowned Jiangnan-style landscape in the city. The director also adopted two-aspect theory as guiding methodology for their work. The Oleander Dialectics remains an enduring methodology at the Peking Opera Theater to this day.
