This work breaks through the author's previous style of social romance novels and attempts to depict the disillusionment of artistic utopia as the theme showcasing the struggle of intellectuals between ideals and reality during the Republican era.</p><p>《艺术之宫》是中国现代文学史上具有实验性质的唯美主义长篇小说，由张恨水（Zhang Henshui）创作于1935年。这部作品突破作者以往社会言情小说的风格，尝试以艺术乌托邦的幻灭为主题，展现民国时期知识分子在理想与现实间的挣扎。</p><p></p><p>This book depicts the experiences of a young girl named Li Xiu'er. Li Xiuer comes from a poor family and her father Li Sansheng used to make a living by playing ghost fights on the streets but unexpectedly fell ill. With the introduction of several girls from the neighbors Li Xiuer secretly went to an art school to become a nude female model without telling her father and also worked as a model in the art palace organized by the school teachers improving her life. But when Li Sansheng found out about Li Xiuer's job he was very angry abandoned his home and picked up his old job of playing ghost fights only to be exhausted on the streets. Li Xiuer met student Duan Tiande at school. At first Duan Tiande admired her but was abandoned by her and eventually went crazy.</p><p>本书描写了少女李秀儿的遭遇。李秀儿家境贫寒，父亲李三胜原以在街头耍鬼打架为生，却不料得病。在邻居几位姑娘的介绍下，李秀儿瞒着父亲到艺术学校当裸体女模特儿，同时还到学校老师组织的艺术之宫中当模特儿，生活得到改善。但李三胜知道李秀儿的工作后，十分生气，弃家离去，拾起耍鬼打架的旧业，却累死在街头。李秀儿在学校里认识了学生段天得，起初段天得爱慕于她，但遭其抛弃，最后发疯。</p>
