The People Who Fall Up

You've been wrong. Your soul doesn't float up out of your body when you die and slowly ascend into the heavens. Your spirit doesn't leave you like a glittery gust of wind. And you most certainly don't just fade into a warm dark abyss. A person's shift from life-to-death is far less graceful than that: you fall hard. Landing up on the ceiling of her classroom with a loud thud was the thing that startled first-year teacher Viera even more than getting shot point blank in the forehead. Being completely invisible to the living world now her and the eleven other victims begin to realize just how twisted and difficult the paths truly can be while alive. The ceiling-walkers form a bond with each other and they can't ever imagine leaving. But they can't all hang around together on the ceiling of their school forever. At some point Viera and the others must kiss the earth goodbye and finish crossing over to the other side before they miss their chance completely...
