<p><em>The Pickwick Papers</em> (originally titled <em>The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club</em>) by Charles Dickens is a comedic novel that follows the adventures of the kind-hearted and somewhat naive Mr. Samuel Pickwick and his companions-Tupman Snodgrass and Winkle-as they travel across England.</p><p>Their goal is to observe human nature and report on their findings to the Pickwick Club. Along the way they encounter a wide array of eccentric characters and become entangled in humorous and often absurd situations. The story also features the clever and resourceful servant Sam Weller who becomes Mr. Pickwick's loyal companion.</p><p>Though lighthearted in tone the novel includes satirical commentary on 19th-century English society the legal system and class disparities. First published in 1836 <em>The Pickwick Papers</em> was Dickens's first novel and established him as a major literary figure.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p>
