Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) was an Irish poet prose writer and playwright. He is famous for his plays and his only novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. The novel tells the story of a young man Dorian Gray who sells his soul to remain perpetually young. While he remains young his portrait shows the signs of aging. Eighteen years pass by and he realises that he has preserved his youth but has decayed morally.
