About The Book

The Pilgrim's Progress is a Christian allegory written by John Bunyan and first published in 1678. The novel tells the story of a man named Christian who embarks on a journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City a metaphor for heaven. Along the way Christian encounters a variety of obstacles and temptations including the Slough of Despond the Hill Difficulty and the Valley of the Shadow of Death. He also meets a number of memorable characters including Evangelist Mr. Worldly Wiseman and the Giant Despair. The novel is celebrated for its vivid and imaginative allegory as well as its exploration of themes of salvation redemption and faith. The Pilgrim's Progress remains a beloved classic of Christian literature and has been translated into numerous languages and adapted into various media over the centuries.
