About The Book

John Bunyans The Pilgrims Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come is one of the most famous books written in the English Language. It is a Christian allegory written and was published in February 1678. It is without doubt one of the most significant works of religious English literature translated into over 200 languages it has never been out of print. It traces the spiritual journey of Christian as he learns lessons that help him to grow in Christian maturity. It is thought that Bunyan wrote it during his imprisonment from 1660-1672 in the Bedfordshire county gaol for violations of the Conventicle Act which prohibited the holding of religious services that were not under the auspices of the Church of England. This version has a beautiful cover from the early 1900s and contains over 80 back and white illustrations engraved by the Dalziel Brothers.and created by among others Frederick Barnard J.D. Linton W. Small.
