The Plucky Parrot

“The rescue people came and took Freddy. The sick old man waved as the grey parrot shook his red tail feathers to say goodbye and gave one last little “Hoot”. He saw Otis wipe away a tear as the door closed on their twenty-one year friendship.” When Otis became sick, Freddy became bored. Short on toys and attention, he did the only thing he knew to keep busy; he plucked his feathers. Rescued and taken to the Bird Fair, he is adopted by Abby Weathermore, mother to two teenagers with an assortment of particular, peculiar, persnickety pets. The family does not realize that Freddy can imitate any sound he chooses. As they learn about him, they also find out that he enjoys his deliberate trickery making sounds that confuse the entire family!
