The Politics of Dance

A critical engagement with the traditional dance practice in Nigeria and the play of identity politics in state dance troupes in Nigeria. It touches on the ethnic tensions prevalent in the multi-ethnic country Nigeria and how dance is a means of examining such tensions. She further makes attempts to transcribe traditional dance movements with labanotation and this is a step ahead in African dance scholarship.
