The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club often simply called The Pickwick Papers is Charles Dickens's first novel. Because of his success with Sketches by Boz Dickens was asked to supply a serial story to accompany engravings by caricaturist Robert Seymour and the novel was published in monthly parts from April 1836 to November 1837. It quickly became a publishing phenomenon.

The novel follows the adventures of Samuel Pickwick and his friends as they travel the English countryside. Full of memorable characters and humorous incidents it offers a lively and affectionate portrait of Victorian England. Dickens's social satire and keen observations of human nature make The Pickwick Papers a timeless classic that continues to delight readers.

This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
