Because of his success with Sketches by Boz Dickens was asked to supply a serial story to accompany engravings by caricaturist Robert Seymour and the novel was published in monthly parts from April 1836 to November 1837. It quickly became a publishing phenomenon.</p> <p>The novel follows the adventures of Samuel Pickwick and his friends as they travel the English countryside. Full of memorable characters and humorous incidents it offers a lively and affectionate portrait of Victorian England.
