The Pragmatic Aspects of Proverbs and Sayings in Some Arabic Novels

It is commonly known that proverbial and saying expressions of any nation are considered as a mirror which reflects its own societal traditional and cultural habits and principles. They are short sentences drawn from long experiences. Further PSEs have existed before books and formed the wisdom of the folk language; and that in the earliest ages they have constituted the unwritten laws of morality. Proverbs and sayings are well-known expressions or statements which express something about various aspects of life. They usually contain wisdom truth and moral traditional views in fixed memorizable forms which are handed down from one generation to another one.
