Ike Turtle: One of the central characters known for his wit and wisdom Ike serves as a sort of rustic philosopher whose observations and commentary provide much of the book's humor. Squire Longbow: The local justice of the peace whose decisions and actions reflect the often informal and whimsical nature of frontier justice. Other Townsfolk: Various other characters populate Puddleford each contributing to the rich tapestry of life in the town.
