The Pyramid Texts

The Pyramid Texts is a collection of ancient Egyptian funerary texts that are inscribed on the walls of the pyramids of pharaohs from the Old Kingdom period. However Samuel A. B. Mercer did not author The Pyramid Texts. Samuel A. B. Mercer (1878-1930) was an American scholar translator and professor of English. He is well-known for his translations of ancient texts including his translation of The Holy Bible known as the Mercer Bible. However there is no record of him translating or authoring a specific edition or translation of The Pyramid Texts. There have been various translations and interpretations of The Pyramid Texts by different scholars. Notable translators of The Pyramid Texts include Raymond O. Faulkner James P. Allen and R. O. Fink. These translations have contributed to our understanding of the religious and funerary beliefs of ancient Egyptians.
