About The Book

INTRODUCTION

This book is about my grandparents and how they met. My grandfather own a tourist court in a small country town. And I was always tagging behind him when he rented the cabins.

When Grandfather wasn't doing this he would take time out to tell me stories. Especially on rainy days and snowy ones. He would sit in his rocking chair and I would sit at his feet. Which was often in front of a warm fi replace. If it was nice outside we sat on the porch of his store.

He really told a lot of good stories too. But the one I liked best was how he met my grandmother on a freight train. In addition the reason he was on the freight train himself.

Grandfather told me when he was young he played a lot of poker in his father's mill. Than one night one of the players started cheating so Grandfather scalped him. So before the law was called Uncle Taylor took Grandfather to the train station where he caught a freight train out West.

Years later after mining for gold and not having any luck he decided to go back home. Especially after he got lost in the desert. So he hops a freight train back home.

The freight train had side track waiting for a passenger train when Grandfather saw a small fi gure getting on the train. Grandfather decided well he has some company. So he goes to the corner of the train where the hobo went.

Starting to sit down beside the hobo he got up and left. And in their haste trip over Grandfather feet. Needless to say Grandfather sure was surprise when he saw it was a very young and pretty red headed girl.
