About The Book

Morrison Heady (1829-1915) was an American blind-deaf poet and novelist who also wrote under the pseudonym Uncle Juvinell. He lost his sight in childhood and gradually turned deaf after a horse accident. He educated himself through listening to his friends readings. He was known to many of the children in his neighbourhood as Uncle Morry. His works include: The Farmer Boy and How He Became Commander-in-Chief (1863) Seen and Heard (1869) Burl (1884) The Red Moccasins (1901) and The Double Night and Other Poems (1901).
