About The Book

The Redskins is the second book in Cooper's Littlepage Manuscripts trilogy following Satanstoe and preceding The Oaquisah. The novel continues the story of the Littlepage family in colonial America focusing on the conflicts between European settlers and Native American tribes in the region. Set in the mid-18th century the novel explores the complex relationships between the settlers and the indigenous peoples of the New York frontier. Through the experiences of the Littlepage family and other characters Cooper delves into themes of cultural clash identity and the impact of colonization on both Native American and European communities. The narrative follows the adventures of Mordaunt Littlepage as he navigates the dangerous landscape of the frontier and becomes embroiled in the conflicts between the British the French and various Native American tribes. Along the way he forms relationships with individuals from both sides of the conflict including members of the Iroquois Confederacy and the Huron tribe.
