The Role of Nigeria in Conflict Resolution in Cote d'Ivoire

This book discusses Nigeria''s engagement in conflict resolution in Cote d''Ivoire in West Africa. Over the years the promotion of international peace and security form part of the objectives of Nigeria''s foreign policy process. The eruption of political conflict in 2002 in Cote d''Ivoire led to the displacement and death of thousands of individuals in the country. The humanitarian situation in the country therefore called for the attention of Nigeria and other members of the international community to mediate. Fundamentally Nigeria''s leadership role in the West African sub-region and indeed in the African continent was one of the reasons for the country''s engagement in Cote d''Ivoire.
