This Book is about the critical roles regional parliaments can play in building peace resolving and transforming conflicts. The latter is very important since it involves transforming lives that have been affected directly or indirectly by violent conflicts. Africa has been a scene of myriads of devastating civil and ethnic skirmishes. Even in circumstance active confrontations subside due to internal or external interventions bitter resentment and the tendency to avenge remain important parts of daily life in communities and regions. Bringing about lasting peace and preventing future conflicts require the involvement of a wide-range of actors: community leaders women young people law enforcement agencies as well as parliamentarians including those working at regional or continental levels such as the Pan-African Parliament which can contribute to the smooth transition from conflict to recovery and reconstruction.
